NARS backstage with 3.1 Phillip Lim - - - Get the look!

I just got a cool email from NARS that I wanted to share with you, in case you aren't on their mailing list.

Nars_lim_1 Nars_lim_2

Check out this gorgeous modern twist on a fantastic retro look from the 3.1 Phillip Lim show at 2008 Fall/Winter NY Fashion Week!

Need to know how it's done?

NARS international makeup director Ayako shares the details:

Q. What was your inspiration for the Look?

A. It was a picture of a woman that Phillip gave me at the make-up test a few days before the show. The woman looked very powerful and it made me think of a mixture of the 1930's and 1980's. I wanted to give the models a hint of 80's with a powerful and modern feeling, so I created a look centered around a strong eyebrow and a poignant berry red lip, complemented by flawless, clean skin.

Q. What makes this Look special/unique?

A. No words speak more! Just a strong eyebrow and beautiful red lips! This look was very powerful - when I focused on these two features.

Q. How does it relate to current trends?

A.The strong 80's eyebrow that I created is very popular right now.

Q. What products were used for this Look?

A. I used a few key items. NARS Concealer, Powder Foundation, Eyebrow Pencil, Bali Single Eyeshadow, Fire Down Below (lipstick) and Dragon Girl (velvet matte lip pencil).

Q. What are any tips and tricks women could use when emulating this Look?

A. If you want to go for a bold red lip, it will always look the best and the most modern when it is paired with clean skin and a nude eye.

Lancôme's Piha Black and Piha Red rock a stunning Fall trend

Red_noir_lips

Lancôme is kicking some ass in some stunning 6" Louboutin heels

Aaron de Mey is hitting the ground running as the company's new artistic director for makeup! Inspired by the quintessential fashion statement that is the Louboutin shoe, Mr de Mey has taken the Fall black lip trend to a new level with a special, limited edition, limited-run pairing of red lipstick and black gloss.

Backstageyslhttp://www.etonline.com/media/photo/2008/02/41922/400_lallen_080218_rosiegreenway_79749362.jpghttp://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z50/lil_gothic_vampire2005/SexyGothicLips.jpg

Can you pull off this trend!? I know I can rock it, but I'm a bit worried it may overwhelm the other mommies at playgroup. But screw it! This look is hot!

If you think you want a slightly more flexible version of the black lipstick trend, why not try a black gloss over a strong red lip? Think you can pull that off? Hey, welcome to my web, ladies. You're right where I wanted you...

How about these?:

01_color_fever_le_rouge02_color_fever_gloss_piha_black

Go ahead: click on the gloss and take a close-up look. STUNNING!

For the red layer we have Piha Red Color Fever Lipstick. Have you tried Color Fever Lipsticks yet? If not, you need to! They're supple, they're luxurious, and they're infused with amazing pigments that act like a prism and keep your lips looking sexy and shiny for hours and hours.

Complete the trend with a dose of Phia Black. Use that nifty Color Fever Gloss Lip MagnifyTM wand to sweep on this dimensional and shiny black top coat to crank that sexiness level up into the stratosphere! The Color Fever Gloss line is extraordinary, and from the looks of this gloss, Phia Black is going to be a must-have addition to every true collector's kit.

"How do I get these specimins!?", you ask.

Sign up now through one of the Lancôme boutiques (there are 5), through lancome-usa.com, or at the at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street Lancôme location, 'cause these are the only places you can get these colors. The good news is this: come November both items will be yours for only $48 (they're being sold as a set) if you're one of the lucky 500 to get on the waiting list (call 212-705-2886 to save your spot - it's a lot easier than putting a lawnchair outside of the boutique!).

FCH reports on MAC ~ Cult of Cherry

Join the sultry, dark, deep, and sexy CULT OF CHERRY

Cherry on top. Pity poor Eve, there's a new forbidden fruit. With a smoldering eye and a plush, purple-red mouth, she's a living, sensual pleasure. The Cult of Cherry is luscious, dramatic, undeniably eroticized. Ripened lips, Spiced Hot Chocolate eyes or Illegal Purple nails, combine to seduce with a sweet-and-shock, way-to go dark. Separates the bitter from the sweet. This drama just gets more delicious.

FCH Top 10 Must-Try Items from Sephora's New Catalog

The newest Sephora catalog has landed

- here are my lemmings, in no particular order:

  1. Rocker_eye Bare Escentuals Tutorials - Rocker Eye | Now, really... do I need more eye shadow? No. Will that stop me from acquiring more? No! I've never used Bare Escentuals for anything other than face makeup (and I'm not a fan for m y own skin). Want to try the rest of the line, and this seems like a great way to go! For a mere $38: 2 smokey shadows; 1 liner; 1 double-ended brush... and one makeup lesson. (Is it wrong that I mostly want the brush?!)
  2.  Urban Decay lipsticks | Why? Why did this kick-ass line have to go and do this to me? Am I not a fan? Have I not spoken kindly about the line and been P219002_hero_2its friend? Why add lipsticks just to drive me mad with desire!? WHY!!!!?!?!?!?!!? I mean- the lipsticks are creme-caramel-scented, the product is vitamin-enriched (it's good for me!), and it's got hyaluronic acid in it to fill some of my stupid lip lines. C'mon here.. this isn't even playing fair. And the end of the lipstick applicator is a dagger. A DAGGER! I'll start with Wicked and Wanted, but it won't stop there I'm sure....

  3. Smashbox Wicked Lovely Lip Pencil in Tempt & Smashbox Wicked Lovely Lip Gloss in Sultry | Wicked_lovely <------ Did you see those lips?!?!The dark lip trend is not new (what is?) but this Fall's interpretation is rocking my world. Get those particular lips with my Tied-for-#3 Lemmings.I've never been a big fan of Smashbox, but only because they have such a small collection. However, recently I've started to take a second look and everything really seems nicely pigmented and high-quality. I have been wrong before! I think my first foray into Smashbox will be these two products. Don't you love that almost-black vinyl look in the picture above?!

  4. P217311_hero SEPHORA by OPI nail lacquers | I have Metro Chic (dark smoke) [I've been trying to swatch it, but not finding the best light to do it justice] The color smooths on nicely, the brush is the perfect size, the formula lasts and doesn't chip. SWOON! Now I must try some more of the seasonal shades and a handful (or more!) of the brand new standing collection. On the list: Run With It! (shimmering dove gray); I'm with Brad (shimmering wine over dark coffee); Brunette on the Internet (dark cranberry chocolate); Braniac (muted spiced pumpkin); Curve-aceous (cool candy apple). Is that enough? Probably not...

  5. P219414_hero Fresh Twilight Freshface Glow | I sure do love a glowy complexion! I have a few favorites for this (MAC Mineralize Skinfinshes, Stila Illuminating Foundation, Aramani LSF, Benefit Moonbeam) but that doesn't mean I mind expanding the repertoire! I'm also a firm believer in primers, 'cause they smooth your skin down to what it should be: flawless. And they also keep makeup just where it should be: where you put it! My favorites so far are MAC's Prep+Prime Skin and face time cosmetics velvet veil. I think I may have to try this one, 'cause it gives some luminousity while priming. What P218317_herodoes that mean? Radiance. Smooth skin. Minimzed pores. Flawless and healthy skin. There is no downside...

  6. Givenchy Phenomen'Eyes | Just look at the brush, then ask me again "why?"

  7. Mini fragrances | Everyone knows: small things are cuter than larger things. It's a fact. It's probably even a law! So of course we're all excited to see that Sephora has a ton of fragrance minis this season. My list definitely includes a 1oz of Emilio Pucci Vivara (italian bergamot, amaretto, sambac jasmine, narcissus, indonesian patchoili, iris butter) which is also available in a tiny .33oz roll-on (!)  and a little-but-expensive bottle of Tom Ford's Black Orchid (1oz) (bergamot, citrus, mandarin, black gardenia, jasmine, ylang-yland, lotus wood, orchid, spicy floral accord, patchouli, sandalwood, incense, vanilla). Ok, yes, I have a full-sized bottle of Black Orchid. What's your point? If you like fragrance and/or have a mini collection - please click the link and visit - there are some really neat fragrances representin'!

    P197410_hero_2 P183301_hero

  8. 1107069_sw Diorshow in Plum 878 | Ladies and gentlemen... I have tried Diorshow and I love it.  ("FINALLY!", some of my friends say. lol) The lengthening, the ... er....fullness-ing, the dark glossy lashes! And now Diorshow comes in Sephora-exclusive-Plum. I have brown-green hazel eyes and the best thing to bring out the green is a sexy and hot plum. Don't think I'm not going to rush out and add this to my arsenal.

  9. P216624_hero Sephora Brand "Tricks of the Trade" Lip Last | I'm probably the only woman in the world who wants her lipstick to stay put without fading and feathering, right? LOL! Of course not! I've tried some lipstick "sealers" before, and they always make my lips uber-dry. Wonder how this one works? The catalog even touts it as keeping "your color and shine in place" [emphasis mine]. That's worth trying, especially for only $14! What say you?

  10. P102922_hero P102922_sm Sephora Professional Platinum Natural Smudge Brush #11 |         I realized that in my ginormous brush collection there is no smudge brush. I'm aghast! And then I realized that this is probably because MAC doesn't make one (THE SHAME!) and I got almost all of my brushes from them back when I was raking in product with my 60% discount. I need a smudge brush, and $20 will get me this one. I. Must. Have. This. Brush.

So... what do you "need" from Sephora right now!?
