Allure 2008 Readers' Choice Awards
Reflections on the Allure 2008 Readers' Choice Awards!
I think it's silly to retype the whole list, don't you? So let's start this off by sending you to see the winners here. When you come back, we'll chat...

Makeup
So, basically, we like MAC. Does that shock anyone? Well, we like MAC for just about everything but blush - in which case we like NARS. I'm so over the whole NARS Orgasm thing. Please. It's peachy-pink. It goes on almost everyone. We get it. Has anyone tried MAC Springsheen? It's also peachy-pink (well, really pinky-peach), and much better and more versatile. It works on more skin colors. (GASP! Blasphemy!) At any rate, I do like NARS blushes. They're incredibly well-done and nicely pigmented. But can we break up this stupid run of folks who can't see beyond the Orgasm!? It saddens me, by the way, to see that CoverGirl is still making those daggone Cheekers - the tiny little strip of lightly-pigmented color with the stripe-carving little brush. Sigh... I stopped using these in high school - didn't you?
And let's talk about MAC's Shroom for a moment. It's a lovely shade, and I consider it a must-have. But it is really all that? It's exactly my skin color, so I get that it's great for me and it's great for highlighting on other people who may have melanin in their skin. It's a fine color. But why is it "the readers' choice"? Don't people use color!? Even if it were just slightly pink, or slightly peach. But jeez... Shroom is just so...blah. MY GOAL FOR 2009: CONVINCE PEOPLE TO EMBRACE COLOR!
As for lips, I do love Viva Glam V lipstick, and I know people love the gloss (it's not for me - I'm too pink and it's too brown). Again, can we see some color!? SNORE. Though, since 100% of the proceeds for both of these products goes to charity, I guess I can't rant too much, now, can I?
And it shocks me not at all that MAC isn't represented in the mascaras. MAC can't make a mascara to save its life! (Sorry fans of Fibre Rich, Plushlash, and Zoom - it's true. Wander out of the MAC counter and you'll find much better products). I am not a fan of Great Lash Mascara, because I like drama, but it sure has its following, doesn't it!? For those of you who like a normal, lash-darkening mascara, this is a great product and you can't beat the price! (And note to self: I must try Diorshow so as to be able to speak intelligently about it.)
What do you think about the Allure award winning makeup list? And let's make a date to talk about what won in skincare tomorrow...

I'm surely not a fan of Fibre Rich, because I think it's too spidery on me. Thanks for coming by, as always! :)
