MAC | Starflash - info and swatches and review!

How 'bout THAT, kids? Info, swatches AND review before it's even out! I love Charles, my favoritest MUA in the world (and former supervisor). :)

Hollywood's new Power Couple.

Our 12 new limited-edition Starflash shadows, combined with Kohl Power Eye Pencil.

Shades for a smooth, creamy, cushioned life.

Provides the double-wattage impact that will take you to the new stylesphere!

Goodness! Look at that gorgeous model!

But anyway...

This is a collection coming out on July 31st. (boy July is hard on a MAC addict's wallet, huh?) It's a new texture of eyeshadow - somewhat silky and creamy for the most part (with a few misses). Right now, the texture and shades are LE, but who knows? If it goes over well we may be seeing Starflash shadow in the perm display sometime soon. Apparently these are meant to be more buildable than other shadows might - and certainly color pay-off and even texture pay-off improves with more layers. The texture reminds me a bit of Stila's shadows (that's not a bad thing) or of Shu Uemura's shadows (again - a compliment), however as with Stila's shadows be mindful of fall-out! They're quite --- um, dusty? Crumbly? Just beware...

A remarkably creamy jet-milled pressed Eye Shadow that provides a distinctive pearly finish. Provides smooth-as-silk application with no dust or fly-aways. Medium buildable coverage allows versatility in application. Use discreetly or build it up. Long-wearing. Lasts all day without creasing or fading. Blends effortlessly, stays colour-true. Limited edition.

The Swatches:

PS: They're getting used to me swatching at Nordstrom, but this time Mother Nature threw in a curve ball and it started to rain while I was inside. I looked deranged running to the car trying to protect my forearms from the drops! (The camera was in the car)

Oops! Want to know which one is which? Want to see more close-up swatches? Want my reviews of each shade? Click through the jump...
  1. Dreammaker | BEAUTIFUL soft gold frost with a luscious texture. Dreammaker is a bit gold, but not unwearable for someone pink like me. Probably a good choice for all of the more work-conservative-neutral MAC fans, and maybe the rest of us, too!
  2. Grand Entrance | Same texture as Dreammaker, but a soft peachy pink. It's in the family of Jest and Gleam, but I think I love this one more.
  3. Bold and Brazen | More of a goldeny bronzey - think Woodwinked-ish thought I'm not implying it's a dupe. Or maybe Tempting.  Yeah, Tempting. I love this shade...
  4. Smoke & Diamonds | This is one of the standouts to me - and sadly this image doesn't do it justice. It's a smokey grey-heavy-taupe. Lovely. If you snapped up Moth Brown and colors of that ilk, you'll want this one.
  5. Glamour Check! | This is still that pretty texture, and is in the same family as Twinks (again, may not be a dupe exactly).
  6. Bold & Brazen | A pretty peachy-brown-copper. Still hast that nice Starflash texture. This would look great with Tempting but also with colors like Paradisco
  7. Mink & Sable | Here's where the texture seemed a bit weaker to me, but the color is divine! It's an olive green, sure, but very dimensional and extra-pretty (though I'm a sucker for olives). However, I really had to build to get decent pay-off.If you like Sumptious Olive, check this one out.
  8. Talent Pool | Another stand-out! A very pretty icy blue-green. It's a great representation of the Starflash texture and the color is really nice. Like Aquadisiac and all of the other blue-greens? You'll want this one!
  9. Star By Night | A very pretty and silky navy. I will pass, but if you love dark blues like Deep Truth and Nehru you may want this one.
  10. Sunset B. | This one is so pretty! I'm not much for pink eyeshadows, but like Star Violet, this is a must!
  11. Lotusland | If no other in this collection: this one. Unspeakably gorgeous and I'm not a lavender kinda girl, but trust me: I'll rock this one out!
  12. Top Hat | Oh my. Here's MAC trying to get Fertile to work. At least that was my impression. Another dark and dusky plummy-navy.  The pay-off: not so great. The texture: not so great. A  big "pass" from me.
