MAC's Heatherette collection is already online at maccosmetics.com and hits counters tomorrow (a week earlier than planned). You'd better rush your little tushie out there to pick it up- I think this collection is going to FLY off the shelves.
I dedicate this song to Lilan at The Daily Cookie. Not only is she my friend, but I suspect we're somehow twins, at least in the way we think about food and makeup. :)
I recently posted images of Fafi for MAC's Cult Fave lipgloss, and suspected Lilan (and others) would want to see some comparison swatches - and here they are! But you have to keep reading after the jump.
Of all of the Fafi for MAC products, I think Cash Flow interested me the most. I finally got one, and now I'm fairly unimpressed. Sigh...
I had swatched it with the rest of the collection and still wanted it, but now that it's on my eye I'm sad.
Oh, Lordy I look old with no makeup on.
But anyway, do you see the problem with Cash Flow? It's hardly there, and I'm an NW15 (at most). That's not cool. Oh well, it looks fabulous under greens and does help amp their color a bit, so I'll keep it (besides, it was a very thoughtful birthday gift). But I'm disappointed in this one and very happy with Perky, which I didn't originally expect to like. Go figure!
Lancóme'sPixel Pink lipstick, the 4th and final in the Pout-à-Porter collection, is still available - kinda. It's a collaboration between designer Thakoon Panichgul and Lancómefeatured in Thakoon's Spring 2008 and you can only get it at Bergdorf Goodman,
Neiman Marcus counters and the five Lancôme boutiques: Manhattan
(212.362.4858), The Mall at Short Hills, NJ (973.258.0790), Northpark
Mall in Dallas, TX (214.750.9364), Valley Fair Mall in Santa Clara, CA
(408.244.8334), and Brea Mall in Brea, CA (714.671.0267). It's already sold out online, sadly.
Below you can view a video created by Grant Greenberg, a filmmaker who created a video for the Peter Som-Lancómecollaboration last year.In the video you'll see artwork by Jeff Scher, a painter and experimental filmmaker.
Greenberg is a
graduate of the world-renowned filmmaking program at New York
University, where his thesis film “Cricket Head” won the Wasserman
prize for best graduate film. “Cricket Head” has since screened at
festivals around the world, winning prizes at the Palm Springs,
Clermont-Ferrand, Edinburgh and Monte Carlo film festivals. His most
recent film, “Sick Sex,” which he produced and shot, was an official
selection of the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. Scher’s work is in the
permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art and the Hirshhorn
Museum, and has been screened at the Guggenheim Museum, the Pompidou
Center in Paris, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and at many
film festivals around the world, including opening night at the New
York Film Festival.
OK, I've been posting about Fafi because I know everyone's so interested in it, but frankly I didn't know how this collection was going to work for my real life. I can't wear crazy colors to work (it's a conservative spa), and I certainly don't choose them for a wild and crazy day of taking my toddler to the library before heading to the grocery store. So, while I still appreciate off-the-wall colors and I LOVE Fafi herself, I was really certain I wasn't going to find a totally large haul at MAC come Valentine's Day.
WRONG.
I haven't purchased, yet, but did madly swatch...
To see more swatches and to learn what I simply must have from this collection, keep reading...
Love that model dressed as a Fafinette! ("What's a Fafinette?" you ask: read this.) She's all Fafi'd-up for a MAC promotion for the new Fafi collection, due out on Valentine's Day. I'm so excited for this collection, mostly because it's just so nice and edgy (as opposed to Barbie: YAWN). It suits MAC so well, and besides: Fafi is an amazing artist!
Some new Fafiness has been spotted in the webworld, and I thought I'd share it with you lovely readers!
Keep reading for the news, including information about the Fafinettes used in the MAC promotion!
Take a look at that, won't ya!? A rare glimpse of the elusive MAC + Heatherette collection... in the wild, it's natural habitat!

DISCLAIMER:The images in this post came directly from ebay, and apparently the person who posted them got some/all of them from Specktra without attributing them, along with the product descriptions - I don't condone that behavior! So: thanks to Specktra.net for the images, and apologies for inadvertently posting them without the disclaimer for a few hours.
Also, Janice at Specktra posted on her blog that these items were given to the press at a press event - and the person who has posted them on ebay is making money on these things she received for free. NASTY behavior. Not nice at all. Please do NOT purchase this lot- but feel free to gawk at the images (thanks again Specktra for those that came from you).
Pout-à-Porter. The collaboration between Lancôme and rising stars in the fashion industry. Lipsticks made when Lancôme and the designers put their head together to plan a product and a runway concept.
This collaboration is between Lancôme's former creative director, celebrity makeup artist Gucci Westman and Thakoon, emerging designer. This is the 4th of 4 Pout-à-Porter lipsticks; the first 3 were made for Behnaz Sarafpour (Fall 2006),
Proenza Schouler (Spring 2007) and Peter Som (Fall 2007).
Starting tomorrow (!) this lipstick, a Color Fever Shine lipstick called Pixel Pink will be available only in limited quantities and only at lancome-usa.com. If you want to wait until you can see it in person to buy it, you'll have to wait 'til March 1st and head quickly on over to your Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, or Lancôme boutique (of which there are only 5).
Specktra always has the latest and greatest MAC news, and as I always promise: I scour the web, the magazines, and the beauty world so you don't have to!

The scent, as yet unnamed, will be available in Spring, 2009 and a line of cosmetics and skincare will follow on its heels.

If you go to Kohl's and are among the first 150 people in line you are guaranteed an autograph.
Where: 1201 S. Fremont Ave / Alhambra, CA 91803
When: Wednesday, February 6, 2008. The signing begins at 11:30AM
