Rescue Beauty Lounge - Fall 2008

Rescue me, 'cause I'm going in!!!

I don't want to take this blog to a nails-only format, but I'm feeling nail polishes so much lately. *Sigh*

rescue beauty plie rescue beauty bruised nail polish rescue beauty teal nail polish rescue beauty no more war nail polish

Yes siree, Bob... I'm loving these Rescue Beauty Lounge polish shades! Take a long hard look at these FANTASTIC colors for fall. I need them all. Yup... yes, I do. And I'll swatch 'em for you and then sit around staring admiringly at my hands for hours.

This collection is being referred to by Ji Baek as "Luxe Grunge." Love it!  Here are her color descriptions:

  • Teal is a deep green/navy that enlivens all-black and tones down bold florals and plaids.
  • No More War is pure olive green. Edgy with lace and ruffles, at ease with defused earth tones and metallics.
  • And go-with-absolutely-everything shade? A moody deep plum brown called Bruised that works with charcoal to saturated hues.
  • With the return of winter whites, Plié, an opaque neutral beige with a hint of blush. A grown-up way to do pale pink.

Not available yet --- you're going to have to wait. But get on the waiting list here, why don'tcha?

Does China Glaze buck the Fall trends?

Rodeo Diva

Oh my. I adore China Glaze, don't you?

Take a look at these... lovely bronzes and some sexy colors shimmering like fallen leaves.
I especially like the looks of the Hayride 6 pack , below, though Flannel Fixation 6 looks stunning, too.

Take a look at the swatches of some of my favorites, from some of my favorite nail bloggers...

We've nailed it! FCH tracked down the newest nail collections and we have it all for you here!

Here we go!

Fall_08_preview_3 Rescue Beauty Lounge goes deep. Real deep! Under-the-sea-deep, with Sponge Bob Square Pants.

This is labeled a "Pre-Fall Collection", so don't think this is all we'll see from Ji Baek in the next few months.

square pants is a lovely, buttery yellow; bikini bottom is a soft robin's egg blue; starfish-patrick is a gorgeous shell peach.

Lemming them all.... how 'bout you?

The fabulous nail gals Scrangie and Ballz & Thinner have featured the newest collection from Misa. It's called Poisoned Passion. Ooh! It sounds and looks great!

I'm in such an Autumn mood right now (it's my favorite season and Summer is my least favorite, so about this time of year my tolerance for Summer is toast and I start yearning for crisp air and dark colors and lovely sweaters!

I will need to track down this collection, ya'll, 'cause they all look good to me, especially love bite, dying love, toxic seduction and fatal affair.

Love this collection name and the products names, too!

I can't wait to wear a dark and vampy color like love bite...but really i'm most drawn to that toxic seduction. Is it green? Is it teal? Whatever it is, I think I like it!

By the way, the images are courtesy of Ms. Scrangie.

Wow.  All Lacquered Up is a tease (which some of us already knew!). She got to go dine with the creative gurus of China Glaze (I HEART CHINA GLAZE!) and heard some of the scoop about the line and upcoming collections. In fact, she got a peek at some of CG's holiday gifts to us polish lovers.

Take a look at Emerald Sparkle! It will be paired with Tinsel, a silver of some sort. china glaze, green, nail polish, nail lacquer, nail color, trends, emerald sparkle, holiday 2008

I know I'm waiting for Michelle to post more about these polishes... aren't you!?

Please don't copy this image or share this info without crediting All Lacquered Up --- this is her image and her scoop.

Not to be out-scooped, The Polish Addict has let us all know about Color Club's newest collections, including a more "green" line. Take a look at The Polish Addict's pics, below, but please don't reproduce them without giving her proper credit!

OK, I'm sure you've guessed, but I will NEED the orange one...

I'm not a big glitter gal,but if you are, you'll probably like Glitter Vixen:

And here's what the all-natural line will look like:

I see a few possible lemmings here and I will wait with bated breath for more info on these collections!

We all know Essie only has shades of white, off-white, blush pink and beige, right?

Right?

Essie_fall_08

And because they're so cute, here are the packs for you to oogle:

Scrangie and The Polish Addict have swatched and reviewed these polishes. Take a look! Scrangie's Swatches & Review / The Polish Addict's Swatches & Review.

Lemming Tomboy No More, No Boundaries, and Lacy Not Racy. And you?

Here are the swatches of the three in the order named above, first from Scrangie, then The Polish Addict:

They look different in each set of images, no? Frankly, I think something happened with No Boundaries and I like Scrangie's version better.

Keep and eye out at Sephora - coming soon Sephora for OPI! Beauty and the Blog is running a review of some of the initial polishes for us, and so far I have quite a shopping list. Grr....

$9 will get you one of the 54 shades exclusive to Sephora. Even the packaging is unique to Sephora! The line will have a base coat, a top coat, nail drying drops, and remover and the shades will be au currant. The polishes will be 3-free (no DBP, no formaldahyde, no touluene), of course.

Beauty and the Blog s featuring some highlights from the colors for us. Wanna peek?

China Glaze at Sally Beauty Supply?!?!

China Glaze at Sally Beauty Supply?!?!

I have a confession to make: I've become quite the nail fanatic. I didn't see it coming, to be quite frank, and I'm still bemused by it. For years, I have had acrylic nails or recovering-from-acrylic nails (read: short, peeling, damaged and weak). Lately, though, I've been sporting my own natural nail, kept short on purpose because I think it's more stylish - not because they're so damaged they break and snag.

One of the things that's made me a bonafide nail fanatic (besides All Lacquered Up and Scrangie - which are great enablers inspirations) is an odd thing: I have somehow become one with the fact that my manicure won't last 7 days without maintenance. With the advent of some truly great topcoats that dry super-fast all of the way to the nail I can change my nail polish every few days without too much downtime. (I hated that time spent immobilized with hands splayed, frantically attempting to dry) I've even found a great nail-builder and basecoat combo that keeps peeling at a minimum - at least for 3 days or so.'''

So now, I'm using nail polish like the fabulous accessory it is and I change my polish at will - and frequently.

One of the real clues that I've become a nail fanatic is that I literally had a meltdown in Sally Beauty Supply the other day. I mean that beauty-based, SQUEE-ing, babbling-a-bit meltdown one might expect at Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale, over a new collection of MSFs, receiving a free tube of Pixel Pink, opening the most recent BPAL order, or at a CCO when a box containing a forgotten Moth Brown is discovered. That kind of meltdown.

What inspired this meltdown? I found out that Sally is going to be carrying China Glaze polishes...

Maybe your Sally already had it? I don't know, and frankly: I don't much care. I don't live near an Ulta, and no one else nearby carries CG (trust me: I have checked), so when my Sally added it: MELTDOWN.

They were stocking the shelf when I found this out- they only had 1 bottle up so far and were wrestling with the poorly designed rack when I walked in. They were snickering while I excitedly took them up on their offer to paw through the boxes of colors. And paw through I did! I maintained (some) control and only walked away with 3 colors, but the knowledge that the collections were there kept me happy all day!

PS: Get a Sally Beauty Club Card for $5 and for the next year your CG polishes are only $3-something each. Swoon...

Below is a hastily-applied swatch of Frostbite, a shade I've been wanting for quite awhile. (Please forgive me the horrid cuticles. I know they're inexcusable, but I'm working on it!)

I reapplied this shade properly for 4th of July to get on someone's nerves, though normally this will probably be a toe color for me...

The bright nails trend

http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2007/stylewatch/blog/070820/rihanna2_300x400.jpg

It's Spring '08, and one of the brightest trends for the season is technicolor nails (see my current favorite trend whore, Rhianna, above). What do you think of this trend? Let us know in the comments!

Here are some great resources for getting drenched in this trend. Check it out:

Just above, we see the newest offering from Chanel. These colors are a tribute to the new Robertson Blvd store, opening this month, and they're only available at that store (or online in July) - so if you're intrigued, hustle over there! I'm loving the pop art inspired imagery and colors, but since I'm not 100% sold on the trend, I will probably not be dropping $25 USD for each bottle. (*gulp*)

MELROSE | A fun, hot pink destined to become spring’s must-have pedicure
RODEO DRIVE | A purple splash: girl power meets the power lunch
L.A. SUNRISE | A primary yellow as bright and cheerful as its name
L.A. SUNSET | A warm tangerine — just the thing for an afternoon shopping splurge

Here are the Summer collections from Zoya, a 3-free polish company: Gossip (on the left) and Chit Chat (on the right).  Gossip is a set of great creams (my favorite when bright colors are the topic). The shades are named after your favorite characters on The Hills (which I am so old I have never seen!): Audrina, Whitney, Lo, Elodie, Heidi and LC.  Chit Chat is actually a sweet collection of gold-based bright shades - and they are named for bloggers! Yes, that's right, the names are inspired by some beauty bloggers we know and love: Gaia, Erika, Becca, Lianne, Annie, and Elke.  I saw some swatches on of Chit Chat on All Lacquered Up (here) and Blogdorf Goodman (here), and from those it looks like I'll need to really check out Elke, Liane and Annie.

Mod_about_brights

Mod About Brights
is the new collection from OPI. There's a nice product shot on BellaSugar, here, which gives a bit more of an idea what the colors look like, I think. One of my new favorite blogs, The Polish Addict, shows some swatches here. I want to see these in person, particularly Mod-ern Girl and Dating a Royal.

Essie_summer_08

The collection above, "The Summer Collection", from Essie, certainly loses in the "inspired collection name" category, but the polishes are cute (and have better names). These are brights for the quieter girls among us, or those in more conservative jobs. Check out swatches here at Makeup And Beauty Blog.

Purple Panic and Pink Voltage

Shocking Pink

Turned Up Turquoise and In the Lime Light

Orange Knockout

Blue Sparrow

Flying Dragon

Rose Among Thorns

Sacred Heart

Japanese Koi, Celtic Sun, and Ink

I love China Glaze - I just wish they had better blogger-outreach, 'cause I can't seem to get in touch with their PR folks for anything! At any rate, check out Ink, their summer collection, above. I may just need the turquoise and the green, and will have to see the purples in person - my favorite nail polish of all times is, after all, a China Glaze purple: Coconut Kiss!

Lippmann_summer_08

Lippmann has released two shades for summer, Lady Marmalade and Shut Up and Drive. They both look nice, but I'm not really feeling the frosty look for these bright summer shades.

Brights_rbl

I found these great shades in Rescue Beauty Lounge's collection. I think I need to add Smitten to the list of colors I want to try from Ji Baek's products, which are gaining popularity at an amazing speed!

What do you think of the bright nails trend?
