You know here at FCH, we search for beauty news so you don't have to - and here's the latest:
- The TotalBeauty gals threw a Summit for their bloggers (alas, we couldn't take the time off from our day jobs to go to LA- - - but mark our words: we're there for the next event!). The weekend is being discussed on quite a few sites:
- The Makeup Divas have identified a new product that you may be interested in if you like all-natural beauty (which we do!). Check out Buddha Balm and other goodies, by Karma Creatives, which is soy-based and organic and reminds me of the little pots of lipglosses I used to use in the 70's. Normally, things that remind me of the 70s are not as pleasant as this. ;)
Check out the PHE.NOM.E.NAL images of one of my favorites, Marc Jacobs, posing as another of my favorites, Andy Warhol, in Interview magazine (one of my favorites as well, and founded by Warhol, actually). The photoshoot occurred for a tribute issue of Interview celebrating what would have been Warhol's 80th birthday. Read other posts at FCH relating to Andy Warhol here and here. And if you haven't picked up an issue of Interview before, you're missing out (check out their artsy but readable website, too!)

Kat Von D's makeup line has hit Sephora's virtual and brick-and-mortar floors, and by some accounts it's actually good! Because you hang on my every word, you already knew this was coming, and so you are not surprised a tattoo artist has her own makeup line and anyone actually cares. The line includes two eyeshadow palettes (with 8 shades each, one set being blues and one more neutral tones), a black liquid eyeliner, a red lipstick, and a set of brushes. Apparently to look like Kat Von D, one doesn't need blush? Prices run from $16 to $28 USD. If you've tried this set or have seen in in person ('cause I hear the packaging is luxe!), let us know in the comments. PS: my girl-crush on Kat is over, but I'm still interested in the makeup - that's how I roll.
- Speaking of tattoos, which we were - kinda, BellaSugar posted a nice product shout-out I thought I'd mention to ya'll. I have tattoos, and I don't want them to fade in the sun. Enter Tattoo-Goo, a sunscreen specifically formulated to protect inked skin. Go read the article on BellaSugar for more details!
The image above is art by my friend's husband, Matt. Click it if you're going to be in the Richmond and are in the mood for some excellent tattooing!
- It's Skin Cancer Awareness Month (May, that is), and many groups are working to increase awareness of this disease that actually kills someone almost hourly - but unnecessarily. Did you know if skin cancers are detected and treated early, they are almost 100% curable? That makes it ridiculous to not get screened! One in five Americans will be diagnosed with skin cancer at some point in their lives, and over 1 million new skin cancers will be diagnosed each year - why not go have someone look at that spot you've been wondering about? Or get someone to do an all-over body check? (you can't really think you've accurately examined your own scalp, do you?) Put your sunscreen on, amigo, and start doing some research into where you can get your free screening, sponsored by Olay and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), in June and July. Simply visit these sites ( SkinCancerTakesFriends.org or ASDS.net) to see what dermatologists in your area are participating and get over there and get checked! In case you weren't paying attention I will repeat: Did you know if skin cancers are detected and treated early, they are almost 100% curable?
That sound you just heard? That was Jennifer Lopez sighing in relief. Thankfully, you no longer need to worry about running out of your beloved Creme de la Mer (whew!). The company is now offering an auto-replenishment system in which you can automatically get your La Mer products shipped to you and have the small price of the product automatically deducted from your charge card every 30, 45, 60, 75, 90 or 120 days. Kinda cool that you'll get a "Warning" email 1 week prior to the shipment so you aren't caught unawares, and you also get a deluxe sample with each replenishment. Sweet. Check it out here.
FCH posts about La Mer abound, but here are the reviews.
And that's about it, besides all of the newest releases, which I will tell you about in a separate post. Do you have any news for us?
