John Dee: master of science, alchemy and magic, Hermetic philosopher in the schools of Rosicrucian Christian Mysticism and Platonic-Pythagorean doctrine, and Queen Elizabeth’s astrologer, advisor, cryptologist and spy. With Edward Kelly, he created a field of study and work in Angelic Evocation, and isolated the Angelic language: Enochian. His scent is soft English leather, rosewood and tonka with a hint of incense, parchment and soft woods.

So, I have a few new scents I want to discuss, but first I thought it might be time to break out a little-known or maybe I should say a scent that's maybe not appreciated as much as it should be. I wonder: is that because there's leather in the notes? I certainly don't like mainstream fragrances with leather in their recipe, but maybe Beth knows something we don't?
Likely. She's such a master of perfumery!
I didn't know there was leather in this perfume oil until I read the description (well after I fell in love with it!). I guess I should clarify a bit: I didn't know what I was smelling was leather... exactly. It smelled delicious. It smelled familiar. It didn't smell like that plasticky leather scent that happens in modern mass-merchandised perfumes. It smelled slightly dark, a little rough, and just a touch masculine.
Imagine a library full of parchments and books a long, long time ago. Picture the heavy wooden desks... the candles lighting the room... the deep wooden bookshelves lined with leather-bound tomes...
That's what this smells like, but with a touch of woody vanilla (the tonka) and a bit of sweetness (the rosewood).
De-lish-us!
This is one I reach for when I feel cozy, or want to evoke that cozy feeling. Stressful winter days when I can finally curl up on the couch with my book and a cup of coffee -- those are Dee days!
