Again: I missed the deadline but wanted to post this anyway.
This is another example of how the concept made me happy but the execution sucked.
Concept:
Why do we focus on the eyes and lips? What if we focused attention on the ears? The chin? The nose? Here I chose ears. Did you know each ear is unique, like fingerprints!? Why not play 'em up, since they're not like anyone else's!?The reality:
It is incredibly difficult to put makeup on your own ears! The result is childlike and messy, I admit it.
I may do this again with a model instead of trying it on myself!
I will say, if we ever start putting makeup on our ears regularly, someone is going to have to come up with a new mirror and some different brushes and hair-proof makeup! ;)
So here's what I did...
I put on my makeup as usual, with a nude eye and lip. I extended the brow out towards the temple and down to the focal point: the ear. I accented with a glitter liner, too (which I would do differently the next time, instead using a brush and glitter; the glitter liner is too unpredictable). I painted the ear with a ton of different products - purple and teal liners and shadows, a fuchsia lip liner, a fuchsia glitter liner and a gold one. (Note to self: I hate glitter liners!) I tried to do things that would bring out the unique contours of the ear. Then I augmented the cheek with some craptastic gold glitter liner. Again: concept = great, reality = suck!
