At this point in time, I'm jaded. Of course, I'm still a makeup lover and a huge fan of all most that is MAC. But how do they say it? "The bloom is off the rose?"
It's not that the quality has diminished, or that the collections aren't inspired. And there's certainly lots of quality makeup out there that I can recommend to folks who don't have irrationally outsized collections! It's just that when it comes to a hard-core collector of all things makeup, a brand (any brand) has to really bring it to impress. We have seen a lot of collection themes, we have tried all sorts of formulas and "novel ideas", and we have so many colors in our stashes that something has to stand out to really "wow" (and open our wallets).
Now, it remains to be seen if the colors in this holiday's MAC collection, called A Tartan Tale, will impress, but I do think the bags are novel and possibly reusable (read: not going to end up given to my kids). As long as the quality is good, I think this is a winner. Maybe a reason (finally!) for this collector to buy yet another travel brush set that I don't really need (but damn I love that travel-sized contour brush!). Besdies, as a Scotish-Irish hybrid (with other flavors thrown in to make me truly American), tartan speaks to me. It's also incredibly versatile; it can be pretty, sweet, preppy, rugged, and even punk. A winner of a pattern, in my opinion.
Take a look at what I'm talking about, and as soon as I get color names/descriptions I'll let you know. My source is written in Chinese, and Google translate gives me helpful sentences like "Limited!A best-selling fantasy eye shadow buy into!" and "Star Magic lip (being goods)" which don't really answer any of my questions. ;)
So what do you think?
