Runway looks are hard to translate into Real Life, aren't they? They sometimes are just too wacky to give any thought, but sometimes there are some pretty looks and great ideas! But runway isn't quite what works at the office, the grocery store, or even over drinks.Let's talk about translating those trends to real life!
I've gotta admit, I'm loving the innovative use of color this Spring! At Preen, models sported a fresh look: baby blue shadow on the inner corner of the eye!
It's not as hard to pull-off as you might think. Keep reading to see how to adapt it From Runway to Real Way...
Part of what makes this look so striking is how blank (neutral) the rest of the face is. At Preen, models were made-up with tawny shades on cheeks and lips. The warm tones contrasted with the pale blue and made it really stand out.
Downplay the contrast, if you like, by using cooler tones on cheeks and lips if your skin is cool (like mine). If your undertones are warm, keep the lips and cheeks warm like the Preen models and switch out the baby blue to a warmer peach or maybe a yellow-green.
Reign in the look a bit, too, by keeping the color just on the tearduct area and inner 1/4 of the lid. The rest of the eye should be nude. A bit of mascara keeps it from looking too stark (notice the models' have nearly invisible lashes?). I used a pencil brush to keep complete control over color placement, but a smudge brush would have worked, too.
What do you think? Will you lighten and brighten this Spring?
