The Nail Ninja: Jessica's Victorian Crush + CND Copper Shimmer

Yesterday, The Nail Ninja showed you Jessica's Victorian Crush nail polish. Well, even though she didn't want to take it off she needed to. There were more polishes to swatch. A package in the mail added to the swatch pile. In it: CND Copper Shimmer top coat from their Colour + Effects line of polishes. (Plus a few other things --- stay tuned!)

So naturally The Ninja swatched the Effect over her Jessica mani.

It gave a neat orange-y tinted overlay that just whispers "Fall!"  Gorgeous. A can't-take-my-eyes-off-of-it mani.

This combo will be swatched again once the sun comes out.

 

PS: Baby Ninja had to get in the picture! The light is terrible because of the rain, so swatching was at the window. Baby Ninja thought The Ninja was looking out at something and had to be a nosey-pants.

Curious about CND Colour & Effects?

Have you been perusing The Edge of Sanity? This fab blog is currently running a really cool (and quite entertaining) series of posts about CND's Effects polishes. She's layering a ton of them (all?) over 6 shades so we can all see what the results are.

In case you're not familiar with the CND Colour & Effects concept, here's a brief synopsis: The line came up with a newish idea. The Ninja says "newish" because many nail polish lovers have been layering polishes forever, but this is the first time a line has embraced the concept completely. But The Ninja gets ahead of herself! The line includes an array of "base colors" that span the rainbow (the Colours) and another set of polishes that are meant to go on top of them (the Effects). The Colours will change depending on what Effect goes on top. For example, in a very simple example, Blackjack (pure black creme) topped with Raspberry Sparkle is going to look different from Blackjack topped with Copper Shimmer.

In addition to filling us in on this fairly sizable line of accent colors (the Effects), the posts are hysterical because she's also sharing with us the opinions of her poor ring finger, who apparently is taking the brunt of this experiment! 

The top pic below shows the colors that are the bases for the testing, while the second is an example of some of the Effects polishes...
